ABOUT TLIMS CHURCH

TLIMS CHURCH is invested and involved in the Southside community. We connect with the neighbors, identify key areas of concern for the community, attend city meetings, and volunteer to meet the needs of the Jacksonville population as a stakeholder in the community.

OUR

CHURCH

TLIMS CHURCH provides a strong foundation within the church body. Outreach, community services and evangelism are important pillars that will continue throughout the life of TLIMS CHURCH .

For a day of worship that is the most integrated day of the week TLIMS CHURCH encourages diversity within the congregation and our leaders. Currently the church offers one Sunday worship service along with a weekly small group ministry. The small group ministry will develop, strengthen, and spiritually unite the congregants on an ongoing basis.

OUR

PASTOR

Reverend Curtis A. Haynes

Rev. Curtis A. Haynes is a caring and sincere Pastor. According to Rev. Haynes, “When I retired from the corporate world we moved to Jacksonville, Florida to foster a diverse group of Christians who could come together in unity to worship God.”

He served as the Senior Pastor of Second Baptist Church, Moorestown, NJ from 2007 – 2017. He earned his B.S. and M.S. from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Rev. Haynes also earned his Master of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Seminary and is completing his Doctorate of Ministry from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. His doctoral dissertation project is how to, “Develop A Plan For Planting A Multi-racial Church In Jacksonville, Fl.”

Rev. Haynes has been married to his college sweetheart Geraldine T. Haynes for over forty years. They have three daughters, a son-in-law, and six grandchildren.

OUR

HISTORY

God called Rev. Haynes to plant a multi-racial church in Jacksonville, Fl, and name it TLIMS CHURCH after Psalm 23, The Lord Is My Shepherd. During a visit to Miami 12 years ago God gave Rev. Haynes the vision for the creation of TLIMS CHURCH.

He recognized a desire, since pastoring at Second Baptist Church, to minister and worship with a congregation that looks like heaven—where people of all races come together and worship our Lord and Savior as one.  It is a common theme throughout the traditional religious community that Sunday is the most segregated day of the week. His goal at TLIMS CHURCH is to make it the most integrated and Christ-like day of the week without waiting until heaven to experience that joy. He wants to experience an integrated joy of worship and service in the local community and city of Jacksonville, Florida.

UPWARD

Upward, meaning to love God because He first loved us.

INWARD

Inward, meaning to love ourselves because God lives in us.

OUTWARD

Outward, meaning to love our neighbors compassionately because of Christ’s love through us.

Our Vision

Every community, like Jacksonville, with ethnic diversity needs at least one church that seeks to declare and model that we are one in Christ at the foot of the cross to its neighbors.

Jesus offered a proposal for unity. He foresaw a time when every people of every nation would call God’s Temple their house of prayer.  We can only conclude that Jesus’ inclusive table of fellowship and vision for a house of prayer was for all nations and was a precursor to what we now call multi-racial congregations.  Jesus’ followers were multicultural.  Jesus believed that this inclusive vision of unity, was rooted in the Hebrew Scriptures and was God’s desire for the future.

Let us through a multi-racial church allow those differences that separate us become the catalyst that brings us together in a new body of believers because our differences make us stronger.
